Vocalist, songwriter and media personality Corey Andrew will appear at CAMP Rehoboth’s Sunfestival Night of Comedy on Aug. 30.

CAMP Rehoboth announced this week that vocalist, songwriter and media personality Corey Andrew will open the Sunfestival Night of Comedy on Saturday, Aug. 30, 6 p.m., in the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.

The Night of Comedy is the first of two Sunfestival events over the Labor Day weekend. (The second night is the Sunfestival dance.) Sunfestival raises funds for CAMP Rehoboth, which is committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive environment in Southern Delaware. Tickets are available at camprehoboth.org/sunfestival.

Andrew is a cultural commentator, singer and storyteller. His career as a media personality began on the stages of New York City comedy clubs including the Boston Comedy Club, Gotham, Catch a Rising Star and Caroline’s on Broadway. In those venues, Andrew worked to perfect his gift of comedic timing and storytelling, to keep crowds laughing throughout his high-energy standup routines.

Using his singing voice often in his comedy routines, Andrew caught the attention of talent agents. That led to his being signed by Abrahams Artists, where he was encouraged to audition for Broadway musicals. He garnered multiple callbacks for shows such as “Rent” and “Aida.” Music producers and record labels also began to discover him and offered him collaborative recording opportunities in the international EDM/house music genre.

Since his debut album, “We’re All Stars,” Andrew has delivered genre-defying performances that have earned international acclaim and a dedicated following across radio, clubs and streaming platforms. The track “Love Me Now,” with fellow out and proud artist Per QX, which was described as solidifying Andrew’s voice “as a bold, unapologetic force for self-expression, resilience and pride.”

He is quoted on universalproductionmusic.com as saying, “Every note I sing carries the layers of my lived experience, growing up Black and gay in a world that often tried to define me before I could define myself.”

As an openly gay artist and fierce advocate for LGBTQ+ visibility, Andrew has collaborated with top producers, including Eddie Amador (Madonna, Seal), Peter Brown, Jesse Garcia, Kid Massive, Lon Miller and German DJ Dahool. His Billboard breakout hit “Dance Floor Emergency” and Beatport No. 1 smash “Move Your Body,” organizers said, established him as one of EDM’s most dynamic vocalists.

Andrew is opening for Sunfestival headliner Zach Zimmerman, a stand-up comedian, writer and host who creates queer, anti-capitalist stories designed to delight and devastate. Zimmerman has appeared on “The Late Late Show,” “Watch What Happens Live” and “After Midnight.” His first comedy album, “Clean Comedy,” debuted on the Billboard Top 10 and inspired a critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and New York.
