This year marks Google’s 25th anniversary. It’s hard to believe, but 25 years ago, there was no such thing as Google. There were no Pixel phones (or even Nexus ones), Android wasn’t a thing, Gmail didn’t exist, and you needed to use MapQuest for directions. Yes, they were dark times.

There are six wallpapers altogether with two different color schemes. You can see them below. However, don’t download the wallpapers from the images on this page. They have been compressed and won’t deliver the high quality you want for your phone. Head to the bottom of the article to download a ZIP file with all the high-resolution images.

Get these Google wallpapers celebrating 25th birthday

Technically, Google started as a company on September 4, 1998. However, for most of its existence, it’s celebrated its anniversary on September 27 each year due to that date being a big one for early search engine traffic. Either way, the company’s 25th anniversary is just around the corner, and everyone can enjoy the fun now.

On Google’s Japanese store page, you can find two Google wallpapers celebrating its silver jubilee. Both wallpapers are essentially the same, except one has cartoon doodles outlined with colorful lines, and the other uses black lines for a bolder look.

The doodles in question celebrate various things associated with Google’s brand. How many can you spot? We see Google Cardboard, the Chrome Dino, the word “1998,” a Nest Mini, one of the Google bicycles on the company’s campus, a Pixel phone, and, of course, a birthday cake. You can also see Google’s co-founders, Sergey Brin and Larry Page. There are definitely more!

Google Contacts for Android rolling out birthday notifications

As we’ve been tracking since March, Google Contacts is now rolling out birthday notifications and encouraging users to add that information.

If birthday notifications are rolled out on your device, opening the Highlights tab in Google Contacts will show an “Add birthdays” card under the For you section: “Save your contacts’ birthdays to see them on your birthday calendar and get helpful cues here and across Google services.”

Tapping “Add birthdays” brings you to a list UI that’s optimized for fast, en masse date entry. A cake icon appears next to people without birthdays, and you can add that information by scrolling through month, day, and year. It’s unclear how you get back to this interface once you remove the card.

Meanwhile, once this feature is rolled out, you can open an individual contact and head to the overflow menu, where you’ll find a new “Add birthday notification” option.

This is not yet widely rolled in version 4.7.26.x. It follows Google Contacts adding Individual and Favorite Contacts homescreen widgets last month.

Family and friends celebrate Raymond Green Vance’s Birthday

COLORADO SPRINGS — Raymond Green Vance would have turned 23 on January 21st. His family and friends decided they wanted to spend the day in a way he would have wanted.

“We wanted to do something that reflected Raymond and giving is what he did. Now we can do it in his name,” said Ron Bell, Raymond’s grandfather.

The group gathered at Club Q in order to clean the memorial. In temperatures as cold as 25 degrees, everyone picked up a trash bag and started to remove dead flowers from all of the victims.

After they had cleaned everything, they set out new flowers across the memorial.

“It’s been so nice to get to meet people. And they’re so nice. They understand what we’re going through because they also went through the same thing. And somehow, we became a family,” said Esthela Bell, Raymond’s grandmother. “Thank you, Raymond,” she shouted towards the sky.

Raymond’s family, along with others within the Club Q community, helped bring flowers, balloons, food, and sang happy birthday to Raymond.

His Grandparents say that even now, Raymond isn’t done teaching them new things. They still see him every time the sun comes out.

“Because of Raymond, we learned that a lot of people are just people that want to be together, we want to know each other, we want to protect each other,” they said.
