“Yours Truly” serves as the final exhibition for graduating University of Wisconsin-La Crosse art and art education majors. Showcasing a body of work shaped over years of study and studio exploration, the exhibition reflects how each artist has developed an individual voice while engaging deeply with the questions, materials and ideas that inform contemporary fine art practice.
“This is one of the best installed shows, people worked really well together and chose their best work,” said Jennifer Williams, professor of art.
“Yours Truly” is on display from Nov. 21 to Dec. 14 in the University Art Gallery, located in the Lowe Center for the Arts.
Together, these works demonstrate the growth, experimentation and dedication that have defined the artists’ time at UWL, offering viewers a look into the diverse perspectives and creative paths that have led to this final presentation.
“Each art style really matches the person who made it. Many of these works seem to be nostalgic, but all convey so much emotion,” said Macy Ortloff, UWL student.
The exhibition was developed throughout the Fall 2025 semester in ART 498: Professional Practices and Exhibition, taught by Assistant Professor Joshua Doster.
Serving as the capstone course for graduating art majors, ART 498 brings together professional preparation, exhibition curation and the practical skills involved in presenting artwork to the public.
“I loved making work for this show, it was tough but locking in was actually kind of fun,” said Avery Wilson, a UWL art education student.
Over the semester, students refine their approaches, prepare their materials and collaborate to shape the final show.
The works on display span a wide range of media and artistic approaches, offering a clear look into the artists’ interests, creative processes and the ideas that have guided their studio work at UW–La Crosse.
“This work is a combination of four years here, that they put their hearts into,” said Doster.
Artists whose works appear in this exhibition include Gracie Acklam, Sarah Hermann, Harbor Rain Kerby, Cameron King, Kailey Peterson, Brooke LaPlount, Trinity Rietmann, Charlotte Schofield, Kylie Stelter, Brielle Thompson, Sarah Volden, Amy West, Avery Wilson and Allison Zawistowski.
As part of their exhibition experience, featured artists appear in four separate artist talk sessions. For a chance to hear the artists speak about their work, a select few appear each day on Dec. 1, 3, 8 and 10 in the gallery from noon to 1pm.
Entry to the gallery and all associated events with this exhibition are free and open to the public.
