Gallery One ready to ‘Let the Sun Shine In’ | Arts & Entertainment

Lesley McCaskill’s ‘Awe Spring,’ an acrylic, will be part of Gallery One’s ‘Let the Sun Shine In’ show in April.
Gallery One this week announced its April show, “Let the Sun Shine In,” open to the public April 2 through May 6.
“In the words of the immortal Beatles, ‘Little darling, It’s been a long, cold, lonely winter. Little darling, it feels like years since it’s been here. Here comes the sun. Here comes the sun. And I say, ‘It’s alright,’” organizers said of the theme. This month the artists of Gallery One are “Letting the Sun Shine In” and saying, “It’s alright!”
As artist Laura Hickman described in her pastel “Breaking Light,” “Cloudy, dreary days are never appreciated by me when on my travels, but when the sun breaks through and begins shining brightly, all is good!”
“Walking down a sandy path and seeing the sun about to set over the water is always a visual delight,” said artist Dale Sheldon of her inspiration for “Early Evening Sunset,” in acrylic.
Artist Marybeth Patterson said she always experiences a thrill when, after a day of painting, she gets to see a beautiful sailboat catching the last sunlight of the day. She illustrated that moment in her oil painting “Afternoon at Pilottown Marina.”
“When we think of spring, and the magic that the sun creates, one can’t help but experience the joy of the first blooms of the season peeking through the barren ground or even (this year) the snow,” representatives said. “Those blossoms are both a visual joy and an emotional lift.”

Ed Lewandowski’s oil painting ‘Shine’ is part of the April exhibit at Gallery One.
For artists Lesley McCaskill in her acrylic painting “Awe Spring” and Cindy Beyer in her pastel “Iridescence,” they said, spring beautifully changes the landscape with the colorful spring flowers and warmth of the weather.
“Breaking Through,” from artist Eileen Olson, “explores the connection between sunlight and its metaphorical significance as a force for transformation and revelation. It symbolizes the journey of overcoming darkness and embracing positivity and clarity. The bursts of white and lighter tones represent rays of sunlight piercing through shadowy areas, embodying illumination and the transformative power of light.”
“As the 5th Dimension put it in 1969, in their hit from the musical ‘Hair,’ ‘Then peace will guide the planets, and love will steer the stars. This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius. Harmony and understanding, Sympathy and trust abounding, no more falsehoods or derisions, Golden living dreams of visions, mystic crystal revelation and the minds true liberation. … Let the sunshine in.”
Gallery One is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
