KPMG and XLRI launch applied business finance programme

KPMG and XLRI Leadership Education and Development (XLEAD) have announced the launch of an executive development programme in applied business finance.

This initiative aims to provide finance professionals with essential skills and knowledge to excel in various finance-related roles

Transitioning to managerial roles requires finance professionals to go beyond technical expertise, according to KPMG.

KPMG also emphasises that the professionals must understand the impact of financial considerations on business decisions.

The programme focuses on applied business finance to assist professionals in making informed decisions and achieving better outcomes by applying fundamental financial concepts and tools.

XLEAD is an initiative run by XLRI – Xavier School of Management’s Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) campus.

This joint offering by XLRI Delhi-NCR and KPMG in India seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical industry skills.

By combining XLRI’s academic capabilities with KPMG in India’s industry expertise, the programme is expected to offer a comprehensive and application-oriented learning experience for finance professionals.

The programme curriculum will be covering corporate finance, Indian accounting standards, ESG, treasury, investor relations, IPO, financial planning, and more.

The programme will leverage the expertise of XLRI faculty and senior business leaders from KPMG in India, providing practical insights and assignments.

Upon completion, participants will receive joint certification from KPMG in India and XLRI.

KPMG in India associate partner of human capital advisory solutions Subhro Bhattacharya said: “Through this collaboration, we aim to help current and aspiring finance professionals, to not only build a solid foundation in business finance, but also learn the essential tools to effectively navigate the complexities of the modern financial landscape.

“We believe this initiative could pave the way for quality finance education and help foster a generation of leaders who are well-prepared to drive innovation and excellence in their organisations.”

XLRI assistant professor in finance Vaibhav Lalwani said: “As one of India’s premier business schools, XLRI has a long-standing tradition of excellence in education and leadership development. This partnership reflects our continued commitment to providing innovative, high-quality learning experiences.

“Designed for the modern finance professional, this programme blends XLRI’s academic rigour with KPMG in India’s industry expertise to empower participants with both foundational knowledge and advanced tools. We aim to nurture a new generation of leaders who can drive innovation, shape business strategy, and lead organisations to success in today’s fast-paced and ever-changing environment.”
